2010 Quickly coming to a close!

So where did 2010 go? Anyone else feel that it flew by all to quickly?
As the year closes I find myself reflecting on the year that was and what might be instore for the year ahead.

Normally I am not the type of person to plan anything, just go with the flow and whatever happens happens.
Unfortunately my business seems to disagree with that and I feel myself needing to plan ahead so that I don't find myself rushing to organize things at the last min. Which can sometimes produce great things and other times leave me feel like I've only made half an effort.

While I take time to reflect I am also going to make a list of what I did this year, what worked, what was a flop and list ideas for the year ahead. I want to jazz things up and make things more exciting.
I am starting to realise the only way to do this is to plan, plan, plan.
I will be starting with important dates and then thinking on new things I want to add, things I would like to change.
From there hopefully I can work on a plan maybe month by month to start with. Then eventually get it down to what needs to be done each week/day.

Interruptions!

Sitting here I am trying to write a blog post that just isn't happening. I have tried a couple of times now.

I find it slightly difficult to write what I am trying to say at the best of times. Add numerous interuptions to that, if it gets to much I just give up and try again later.

So while my 4yr old is occupied I thought I would try to write the blog post I was thinking he would give me a little time to concentrate. How wrong was I!

As I sit here watching him play I keep having to stop to answer questions, to ask him to lower his voice just a little (he loves talking very loudly) and to fix things that he can't quite do himself.

Now I don't know what the point of this post was....takes a second to get back on track.
Oh yeah, being able to work from home and look after the kids while constantly being interupted is something that I am still not used to yet.

So how do you manage to get your work done?

Somehow we just seem to fit things in where we can. Makes sense why things seem so disorganised at times, certain things get forgotten and we loose our train of thought.

That brings me back to the post I was trying to type in the first place lol Organisation. I'll get onto that at a later date now.

Sorry if this makes no sense, I thought my son was occupied for enough time for me to type this but it seems not.

Now I am at the end of this post and guess what he has gone back to playing. So typical.

Inspiration

Being creative needs inspiration, where does that come from?
For some it comes from looking at pictures, others it is nature, then it could be simple words or phrases. I am sure there are many other ways to be inspired as well.

Today I was looking for something inspirational to give me a boost. The weather is dull and rainy today, so while sitting here wishing for a little sunshine I decided to go looking for inspirational quotes.

This is the one I found:
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. ~ Waldo Emerson

It was just the lift I needed to get me back on track and make me realise that no matter what the path I travel is one that has not been built, therefore it is up to me to make that path to travel.

I hope that this has given you something to think about and maybe even given you a lift. Keep on making that path and never give up on any dreams.

Trying to keep up

Sometimes I feel like there is so much information on the internet and sifting through what is relevant to you and your life and what you can disregard can take precious time.

Normally when I see long blog posts I disregard if I don't have the time to sit and read or I bookmark it to come back to later if it is a really interesting topic.

Right now I really should be getting some sleep but here I am typing out a blog post for you all to read. I will keep it short though as I am going to link you to another blog post that is a bit longer.

I spotted a post on Facebook saying 'quick tips for Facebook interaction'.
Once I started reading I wanted to finish reading the whole blog post. Now that I have read it and with permission from the blog I am passing it on for you to read.

Designer Quest 19

The latest Designer Quest has just finished. At the moment we are all waiting to see who the winner will be. I don't envy the judges, they always have a tough job to pick a winner and runner up.

While we are waiting I thought I would share my creation with you. The beads this time around were supplied by The Whimsical Bead and hosted at the Beading Forum

"The Home of the Seahorse"

It depicts the waves, bubbles and froth of the ocean. Some seashells are caught in a net, they are the only thing this net is going to catch. The Seahorse, its jewels and couple of special seashells are safe to travel the ocean.

I love the way this piece came together. I started out with a rough vision of what I wanted it to look like. The challenge was making that vision a reality.
I made individual pieces and in the end all of those pieces just fell into place. The outcome this fantastic creation.

I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I have enjoyed the challenge and am loving the final result.

Time for an update!

Been a bit slack in updating recently, kind of have to blame that on the kids for being on school holidays. Or I could own up and say I have just been lazy.

So now with school back and more time for me what have I been up to? Taking time out for me comes to mind hehe!

I have been doing a little reflection and planning, normally I am the casual layed back take it as it comes type person and throw a little randomness into that mix. I have a feeling though that I am going to need to get myself a little more organised if I want to achieve new things.
So the little planning session I had produced a few ideas that will be happening throughout the year.

So while I spend a little more time planning and finetuning these ideas take a look at Twisted Jewellery Creations and check out the newest additions and also our sale items for February.

Designer Quest 18

Another Designer Quest has come and gone. Over the last couple of months I have have had beads from the latest Designer quest on the Beading Forum. www.beadingforum.com.au

The choice this time being creams or greys, I decided to go with cream and this is my design. I had no idea what I was going to create and this design started as a vision in my head and I managed to make it into a gorgeous piece entitled 'Pearl Beach'.

Christmas

I can't believe how quickly the year is disappearing yet again. It is nearly December and already the shops are in a crazy frenzy of people looking for the perfect gifts to buy family and friends. Then their is the kids teachers and friends they want to give a Christmas gift too.
Seems never ending but each year we do the same thing spend time looking for the perfect gifts.
Then there is all the decorations and food to buy for the one big day of the year. Sometimes it feels like a huge build up for one day of celebrations but it is a great time to come together as a family and spend time together.
Those precious memories are some that we will never get again as the kids grow and life changes.

So in the crazy rush that becomes our lives for the next month take time out to reflect on the year and make a mental note of all the good memories. Take time to relax and not get caught up in making everything perfect for the day. It will be what you make it and no amount of preparation can prepare you for what the day will hold. Enjoy it for the celebration of life that it is.

A Fishy Tale

Another weekly challenge entitled "A Fish Tale"

It incorperates some little fish, a dolphin, penguins, turtles and a seahorse swimming in the ocean when along comes a net and scoops up a fish. Another little fish got caught in the chain that lifts the net out of the water.

On the Beading Forum they have weekly challenges and the theme recently was "Twisted".

I had to enter the challenge of course and this is the piece I created. A pendant using square wire twisted around a piece of agate.
I hadn't attempted this type of wrapping before and am happy with the results.

Designer Quest 17

Over the last couple of months I have have had beads from the latest Designer quest from the Beading Forum. www.beadingforum.com.au
The challenge involves a pack of beads that are purchased from the Designer quest sponser this time around being Bead Glass www.beadglass.com.au Everyone starts out with the same beads chosen from one of two pack colours.
This is the design I have created. It started out as me wanting to create something with flowers, it was going to be 3 flowers and some leaves. It turned into one flower and one leaf. It kind of created itself as I went along. The pictures are being posted up on the forum now and will be judged next week.

I have spent a bit of time working on my website recently. Mostly behind the scenes things but I have to say I am loving how it is all going. I am excited about spreading the word and letting you all look at what I have been creating.
Next step is to get some more great photo's of my designs and get them onto the site for everyone to look at. I will post a few here as well.

First ever blog

Not sure how this blogging works but I am going to give it a go seeing it is a popular way for people to get info onto the web.

I have been into beading for the last 3 years and love learning new things along the way. I have also done a silversmithing course and hope in time I will get all the materials to setup and create silver jewellery from home.

That is a little about me for now hopefully I will remember to come back and update with some jewellery pieces soon.
